Galtres Lodge York

General Information

The lodge is a Georgian brick building, with heating throughout, sympathetically renovated in such a way as to retain the sociableness and character of the original cottage. There are thirteen bedrooms, comprising single, double and twin-bedded lodging and some suites open onto a vista of the distinguished Rose Window of the Minster. Our suites are serviced daily. Half of the lodging is en room, with 2 suites having half-tester beds. For those without private amenities there is ample bathroom holding capacity including showers, and all remaining suites are fitted with washhand basins and some with WC. For more news on reservations and prices see the tariff page. The lodge is WiFi enabled allowing wi-fi by means of laptops and other portable devices. Galtres Lodge is located in the very heart of York, giving an unprecedented feeling of seclusion in bustling, austere settings. All of York's major sights are only a moments walk away, with the Minster literally just round the corner (see the map on your directions page). The lodge is certificated and everything from a fast lunch to a full 3 course meal is obtainable throughout the day (see opening times). Located within the lodge is our restaurant, Michael's Brasserie, which prides itself on its pioneering carte menu.

Transportation

Finding UsOnce in York, follow signs for the Minster (York Cathedral). Low Petergate is exactly beyond Deangate, the highway that runs opposite the Minster (see map). Car park Traffic restrictions were implemented in York downtown during 1987. Visitors in privately-owned autos or taxis may arrive at or leave the inn at any time of day. Car parking arrangements are usually obtainable to customers for a nominal charge, please ask for details when making your booking. The map below gives details of the approved routes and site of the car parking. Footstreet RestrictionMonday - Friday 11 - 4Saturday ten. 30 - four. 30 Sunday 12 - four Galtres Lodge clients arriving by auto or cab may enter foot zone during the above hours, provided they do so by means of Goodramgate, Church Street, Swinegate and Grape Lane and leave by means of Low Petergate and Colliergate. Follow this highway for one hundred fifty meters till you arrive to another crossroads.3. Turn left here and follow this highway over a mini roundabout, next move into the left hand lane at the traffic lights.4. After turning into St Maurices Road you need to move into the right hand lane for the following set of traffic lights. Turn right here.5. You are now in Monkgate. Proceed hundred metres and on your left hand side there is a social cottage called The Tap and Spile.6. Turn left into the parking and garden tidily. Site your voucher on the dashboard where it able to be clearly seen.
