General Information
Built in 1888, 'The Shirley' is an individually-styled Victorian bungalow which tranquil contains much of its original spell, congeniality and character. Well-situated, overlooking south it features a heated open-air swimming pool (available June till September) with a sun verandah. We have a restful, well stocked certificated barlounge serving several locally produced beers, branded spirits and quality wines from around the World, plus an dainty breakfast room for you to take pleasure in your newly cooked full English or Continental breakfast. All of our nice bedrooms are en-suite and entirely furnished with tea/coffee making amenities, bottled water, Freeview color TVs, FREE Wi-Fi connection, hairdryer and branded complimentary toiletries. Natural local spring water is also possible on every of our landings and in the breakfast room. 'The Shirley' is peacefully located away from the traffic noises of the major highway, yet is only a 7 minute stroll from the haven, marina and city center with its extensive multitude of bars, clubs, restaurants and boutiques. The Shirley' is also at the foot of the Riviera International Conference Centre. Our situation is perfectly set for investigating the richness of Torbay with its miles of unspoiled coastline, 18 beaches (many of them have been given the Blue Flag award), lonely coves and the rugged Dartmoor National Park. Investigating the nearby Devon village including the waterside cities of Dartmouth, Dawlish and Salcombe is a must with pretty bus and highway links. Exeter is only 25 miles to the east and Plymouth 29 miles to the west.. For those of you wanting to travel to us by auto, we also have an intimate on spot car parking and simple on-road car parking. Whether the train is your preferred mode of transportation then Torquay station is only just over a mile away. If your visit is for work or leisure, you are able to be guaranteed that our cordiality will empower you to unwind, relax and enjoy yourself.
Transportation
From the end of the M5 (Southbound) follow the A38 towards Plymouth. After only a short way the highway divides. Take the left fork signposted A380 Torquay. As you approach Torquay, follow the signs for the Seafront. When you get to the seafront, turn left so that the sea is on your right. Follow the highway along the seafront (A379, Torbay Road leading into The Strand) passing the Princess Theatre on your right, then Royal Bank of Scotland, Hooper's department store and Debenhams on your left. At the following roundabout (with the Clocktower), turn left into Torwood Street following the signs to Babbacombe. Keep to the left lane, go across the traffic lights and continue up The Babbacombe Road for approximately 200 m till you pass Torquay Museum on the left. Braddons Hill Road East is the following highway on the left. The Shirley is the third building on the right. Whether you're driving from Cornwall and Plymouth, Follow the A385 to Paignton and then the A3022 to Torquay harbor before following the above directions from the A379, Torbay Road leading into The Strand.
