Mel and Martin invite you to the good Exe vale where the Bark House features stood for over 200 years, primarily for the storage of oak bark used in the tanning industry but now a spot where you are sure to get warm Devon cordiality. The structure is embedded in terraced parks with a backdrop of woody hillside, big parking across the highway where fields lead down to the river Exe. Interior the Bark House the cozy hall features cozy seating and an open fire, a little brasserie for dwellers and diners, and a confidential restaurant. On the ground floor there are 5 bedrooms, every differing in size and with its own individual charachter, on the 2nd floor an intimate apartment with double bedroom and hall. Meals are cooked by us and we offer a carte menu using local meats and fish wherever possible. Bampton features and prime butcher supplying high quality bacon and sausages for lunch. Dinner is catered at 7pm with drinks in the hall, choose your meal from the dishes and wine from a list of individually selected wines from around the world. The Bark cottage is a little, personal establishment, where Mel and Martin will assist you with your stay.
