In 1213, after the Norman Conquest, the woody land we now know as Minchinhampton Common was confiscated and presented to l`Abbaye aux Dames in Caen. Some 800 years later Christophe and his work partner Nick continue to add to this charming Anglo/French story. The Old Lodge itself dates back some 400 years and is reportedly a previous hunting lodge to Henry VIII. The majority new project and the boys only hotel to date. The Lodge features fantastic views and an envied situation at the center not just of the common with its self-sufficient ranging cattle but of Minchinhampton Golf Course. The spectacular restaurant features floor to ceiling windows that look directly onto the common and the professional yet relaxed facilities is delivered by Craig Daly and his team. Recently remodelled, all rooms in the hotel have present-day decor with smart amenities and luxury linen and bedding. Every room comes equiped with over-the-air broadband, DVD, and digital LCD TV as standard. All bathrooms feature either bath and/or power shower. The Old Lodge makes an immediate impression. Personally designed suites, huge restaurant, local ales, and roaring log fires in winter promise to produce your visit a unforgettable one.
