The Pack Horse Inn is the oldest existing Pub in South Brent, Devon. It features old-fashioned origins and 1 of the beams in the pub is said to be off a old-fashioned ship. The Pack Horse existed in the fourteenth century and could even be as early as the 13th century. The Pack Horse is a family-managed inn where we believe we are responsible for achieving lively environmental practice and operating in a sustainable manner. We have been presented both The Dartmoor 1st and a high silver in GTBS. An old-time English welcome greets you at The Pack Horse. Local true ales, familiar atmosphere and an ample open fire. Retreat the Hurley-burly of contemporary day life and the intrusion of tv, loud music and fruit machines and enjoy antique world fascination, authentic food, drink and lively company at The Packhorse. Built in the gothic times as a resting venue for the packhorse trains that carried goods between the farmers and miners on Dartmoor and the trading cities closer to the beach, today it offers cozy, well furnished bedrooms and a home-cooked breakfast, with all dietary requirements served for. Should you wish to eat we have a big variety of fresh local make home-cooked meals to chose from. And at a tangent to convention our cook is quick making a name for himself with his pizza specialties. The premises is advantageously located in the very heart of the historic countryside of South Brent at the foot of the A38 Devon Expressway, halfway between Exeter and Plymouth. The Packhorse is celebrated for hikers, with convenient access to Dartmoor, and fifteen min to the seashore. Bring the rod, as its also a superior site for fishing! Ample self-sufficient parking zone for clients. Whether you wish to bring your own bike we have dry storage to store them.

Transportation

Situated on the edge of Dartmoor in small countryside of South Brent we are easily reached through the A38 from either Plymouth or Exeter directions. We are about 1 minute from both junctions. Simply turn off at South Brent, follow exeter highway to either Plymouth or Totnes Roads into the countryside centre where you can find us on the corner of Plymouth Rd.
