Transportation

The island's transportation links to and from the continental are so idyllic that a lot of islanders commute to the continental daily. Trains from London to Portsmouth leave regularly from Waterloo station. The simplest way to receive here is by train, as you are able to book a ticket that takes you directly to us in Shanklin - including the 15-minute ferry crossing from Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde, plus the connecting island train from Ryde to Shanklin. The Grange is directly several mins from Shanklin station by cab. Whether you're hiking by auto, the quickest crossing (35 minutes) is from Portsmouth Harbour to Fishbourne with Wightlink Ferries. Alternatively you could travel from Southampton to Cowes with Red Funnel Ferries. The auto trip from Fishbourne to Shanklin takes around fourty minutes.
