Railston Cottage, just beyond Railston House, was aboriginally built (circa 1820) by John Railston Esq., a local seed and grain merchant. It was aboriginally built to store his horse drawn coach when not in use. The floor above the coach cottage was, it's believed, where the coachman/gardener and his family lived. The structure was converted to full lodging in 1939 to billet troops during World War II. The cottage had not been upgraded in any main way since then, till fulle furbished in 2009 to organize a quality, cozy vacation house.
