Located in the tranquil countryside of Penruddock, just off the A66, with vistas across meadows to Motherby and towards the Northern Fells of Blencathra and Carrock Fell in the west, this indeed is a delicious serene location to spend several hours or a few days. It's perfect for exploration the Northern Lake District with Ullswater (4 miles) and Derwentwater only a short ride away. Penrith and the M6 J40 is 6 miles away with Keswick being just ten miles away. Built in the eighteenth century, this classical Lakeland Inn with oak beamed ceilings, local stonework and open fires, holds all the character you would expect from such a construction. Within it is thick conventional local stone walls the Herdwick Inn features all that is expected of a countryside pub and lots more in addition to this. The Herdwick Inn is committed to serving food and drink of marvellous quality, amid unofficial, beauteous surroundings, where our visitors able to feel entirely relaxed. Our cozy Bed & Breakfast (B&B) suites with ravishing vistas and champion service, produce this the ideal place for a weekend "away from it all", or even a longer vacation. The Herdwick Inn features received numerous accolades and features won a Silver Award in the Marstons Brewery Pub of the Year Awards 2 years running in 2007 and 2008. Our restaurant is famed locally for the quality of its cuisine and our client facilities is 2nd to none. We have ample parking at both the facade and rear of the Inn, along with a rural ale park and courtyard. We also have safe storage for cycles as we are situated at the foot of the C2C cycle route. The Herdwick Inn features a famous image in the locality for great food, from our hearty Lakeland breakfast to our home-cooked meals which are catered either in our intimate mezzanine restaurant or in the cozy Bar.
