Wealthy in original character and conventional spell, this comfortable 19th-century state inn proposes pretty beers, a capacious food carte menu at prime value prices and cozy en room apartments in the converted former stable block. Primarily built in 1866, the Duke of Wellington was once a working farm and an inn for drovers. Traditionally built from Derbyshire limestone, the pub features a slate roof, roaring log fires and large terraces. Free wi-fi access is obtainable in the brasserie. There are 9 en apartment suites in the nicely converted stable block. Set away from the major building, the rooms provide comfort and solitude. The stable block features its own flagstone patio and self-sufficient private car park is obtainable on place. All rooms in the hotel have TVs and teacoffee making service. Transportation

Leave the M1 at fusion 28, take the 1st exit signposted Matlock onto the A38. Travel for approx three miles, leaving at the exit signposted for SwanickAlferton, at the roundabout take the third exit for matlock, followed by the close to instant slip highway to your left. Take the 1st exit off the mini island till you arrive to a T combination, turn right, with the Peacock pub in your right. Take the slip highway to your left, signposted for Matlock (A615) and continue for approx 6 miles. As you enter Matlock there is an Esso garage on your left, with the Horseshoe pub on your Right. Turn right here on to Chesterfield Road (A632) continue to the upper of the hill where you can find the Duke of Wellington on your left hand side...the parking is directly beyond.
