General Information

A dazzling film set of a cottage and park. Built in the 1890's, later home to the Reitlinger Museum and its Egyptian, Persian and Greek artefacts, it now houses Sandy, Colin, a canny range of Victoriana and some deeply indulged clients. Bedrooms are packed with gleaming forest, luxurious watercolours, vintage fabrics, wooden floors and ancient knick-knacks: one of the baths features a modesty canopy, and there are marvellous river panoramas from most. There isn't a reason to taste tense, but just in case you do, there's a serious leisure suite for massage, reiki, hot stone massage and a whole raft of other beauty care. The Great Hall is outstanding with its turquoise woodwork and roomy windows. Communal breakfasts propose local organic sausages and bacon in addition to Jack Daniels marmalade. In summer months you are able to decamp to the park and watch rowers and swans glide by. The river Thames idles past the foot of the sweeping lawns and the Waterside Inn and The Fat Duck at Bray, both three Michelin star restaurants are five mins away for a dinner to die for.
