General Information
The Rockford Inn sits beside the East Lyn River as it flows via the lavish and tranquil Brendon Valley in Exmoor National Park. The rustic social cottage dates back to the seventeenth centuty and provides a comfortable and festive ambiance in which to unwind. Its a conventional North Devon state pub popular with local farmers, ramblers and fishermen alike and embedded in an isolated and remote hamlet. We provide pleasant home-cooked seasonal foods, local brewed genuine ales and cosy lodging in which to visit, where we provide full and half board. You are able to sit by the river, enjoy a pint as you watch herons stalk salmon and trout, in addition to the odd unfortunate frog. The sound of rushing water over the rocky rapids provides a calmness to behold. After we have locked up and the clients retired to bed the unparalleled sounds you'll hear are the peaceable, tinkling waterfalls and the hooting of owls in the woodland.
Transportation
Take the A39 from Lynton to Porlock, or Porlock to Lynton, depending on if you're coming or going. Then take the highway signposted towards Brendon. This will take you down into the dale. In the countryside go over the ancient stone bridge and follow the sign to the pub, 1 mile along the river. Whether you're coming across the moor take the B3223, between Simonsbath and the A39 the highway down to Rockford is signposted.
