General Information

The Lion, a 400-year-old state inn, in the attractive and peaceful countryside of Gwytherin (home of St Winifred and the first Cadfael novel), now completely renowated to give 6 Bedrooms (all en-suite) of the most high quality, featuring hand made furniture, conventional Welsh woollen throws and luxurious pocket sprung beds. Freesat flat screen TV, DVD player and self-sufficient WiFi are on hand whether you have time after enjoying the splendid landscape and simple park amusements this part of the world can offer. All the bedrooms have village vistas and a full Welsh breakfast will set you up for the day. Plenty of visitors visit at the Lion solely to enjoy Fionas' cooking, an imaginative, changing evening meal Menu that brings out the highly finest from the superb, locally reared and grown, make. There is also a Locals brasserie with a commodious open hearth, low Beams, comfy seating and local genuine Ale.. The Bar and Restaurant are open Wednesday through Sunday in the evenings (booking advisable in high season, necessary in low season). An evening meal able to be provided (pre booked) for staying visitors on Tuesday in the evenings, however Monday night bookings are on B and B conditions only. The Lion is a superb base for exploration North Wales, on the edge of Snowdonia, the guesthouse is a 30-minute drive from Mount Snowdon itself and the same time will take you to the waterside resort of LLandudno. After approximately five miles, turn left on to the A544 to Llansannan. After approximately four miles, just before entering the countryside of Llansannan take a right turn on to the B5384 marked to Gwytherin. There will be another signposted left turn off this highway before you get to the countryside of Gwytherin. Or: From the A5, take the A470 at Betws-y-Coed to Llanrwst. Follow signs for the A548 to Abergele. three miles out of Llanrwst take a right turn to Pandy Tudur. Following this highway will lead you into the countryside of Gwytherin.
