General Information
The Horse and Jockey Inn is a 14th Century Coaching Inn with six newly constructed adjacent suites, a spacious restaurant and 2 bars. Run by the same family since 1989 and situated in the very heart of Knighton Town several mins amble from the railway station. The Horse and Jockey Inn is set around a patio providing a homely snug brasserie with a log fire, major brasserie with pool apartment & at the end of the patio an accepted 80 seater restaurant, which was indigenously the stables, booking advised. Above the Restaurant the Hayloft features been converted into 6 adjacent apartments, all decorated with taste with flat screen tv, large up-to-date bathrooms and tea/coffee tray. There are five twin suites every with 2 single beds and 1 exceptional double with a kingsize bed. The Welsh name for Knighton is Tref-y-Clawdd which means "Town on the Dyke" and it's the unexampled Town that stands right on Offa's Dyke. Knighton is the home of the Offa's Dyke Centre and is the natural base from which to discover The Dyke. The Dyke was constructed toward the end of the 8th Century by King Offa to detach the kingdoms of Mercia from Wales. It ran for 149 miles from Chepstow to Prestatyn and some 80 miles of The Dyke is peaceful traceable today. Knighton is steeped in heritage with sloping winding streets and half timbered houses, the older part of the Town features a grid of streets reminiscent of an Edwardian plantation. Knighton is easily reached by highway or rail with the Heart of Wales Line running via the Town and linking Swansea with Shrewsbury. Knighton is a locality of indeed prominent genuine beauty and is a generous spot to visit if you're striding the length of Offa's Dyke or investigating the nearby area.
