We would like to welcome you to discover our website and receive just a little insight into what we believe to be one of the plurality unspoilt and refined areas of the Lake District. We are Michael and Elena Law and along with our 3 year ancient daughter Charlotte propose you a warm, hospitable Cumbrian welcome to our characterful Hotel here in Holmrook in the western Lake District. We have fifteen homely adjacent suites and we are situated in a striking roadside setting next to the lively River Irt, well known for it is gin-clear' waters and it is annual run of Atlantic Salmon. You are able to stroll directly out of the facade of the Hotel and meander along the riverbank, taking in all nature can offer, including Otters, Herons and we often delight at the showy plumage of species such as Kingfishers and lesser-spotted Woodpeckers. (They also stay our park bird feeding stations) There are plenty of documented strolls in the proximity, usually centred around Inns and other such watering holes', ideal to quench the thirst and comply with the hunger of still the most energetic walkers. For the more adventurous there is the surrounding walkers-paradise' in the Eskdale and Wasdale valleys which consists of the challenging Scafell Pike, England's highest peak. We are a beautiful base for exploration the plenty of local sights including Muncaster Castle, well known for it is beautiful gardens and Birds of Prey' display. There is the celebrated La'al Ratty, (described by a lot of as the majority lively train trip in England). Maryport Aquarium is a fine wet weather standby (It does rain here occasionally !) The Sheep and Wool Centre close to Keswick is a delight for the kids, specifically whether they like to meet farm animals. Most of our dear guests compliment us on the collection and quality of our home cooked' food, ready in our kitchen to order, from fresh local make. We believe it to be worth the additional wait and this sentiment seems to be echoed by our dear guests. We everytime have an entirely stocked Bar and we cater a few great Cask Ales.
