General Information
Situated in the captivating unspoiled countryside of Hawkshead, this charming 17th Century Inn features everything to propose those searching for a captivating break or vacation away from the fuss of everyday life Ideally located in the very heart of the countryside, the Sun Inn features oak beams and an open fire. We are ETB commended (4 diamonds) and AA advised (4 diamonds). In March 2008 we completed a full renovation of all our nice bedrooms and we are extremely pleased of the result; sparkling recent en-suites combined with dainty fabrics and locally handmade furniture in each suite. Our recent carte menu has locally reared lamb and beef from greenish lakeland fells, in addition to trout caught in Esthwaite, just 5 minutes stroll away. Hawkshead countryside, centred around a lovely church and grounds features astonishing views of Esthwaite Water, Claife Heights and the nearby fells. The countryside is wealthy in heritage including the Grammar School attended by William Wordsworth, Anne Tyson's 17th Century Cottage and the ever popular Beatrix Potter museum. The central piazza brags a multiude of quaint coffee houses, tasty gift butiques and little shops. There is also a famous selection of sports and relaxation wear from the major Hawkshead boutique perfectly located just in front of the Sun Inn.
