General Information
Fowey is a picture-postcard seaside resort city on the South Cornwall beach. It features a pleased maritime history and is considered by a lot of to be one of Cornwall's most scenic vacation spots. Fowey plays landlord to several main occasions including the Fowey Royal Regatta and the Daphne Du Maurier Literary Festival. Both take spot in summer time drawing persons from far and spacious. Other occasions such as the Fowey carnival and Christmas market place also prove popular with travellers. Fowey is located near the mouth of the River Fowey. It lies between Mevagissey and Looe and is approximately 25 miles from Plymouth. Its neighbouring city, Polruan is located across the estuary. The bustling city quay is one the city's most artistic locations and is the heartbeat of Fowey. The buildings are a mish-mash of working boat-houses, Fowey vacation cottages and bars. Prepared Money Cove is a fashionable, sheltered coast that lies close to the mouth of the Fowey River. It's bounded on either side by St Catherine's Castle and Neptune House. Avenue Catherine's Castle was constructed in 1536 by Henry VIII to repel Spanish raids and is run by the English Heritage. The palace, which is in poor repair able to quiet be reached by a short path that runs from the coast. Point Neptune House also faces the cove and was home to Daphne du Maurier during the Second World War - a commemorative plaque celebrating this able to be seen on its walls.
