General Information
Probably constructed as a Royal Hunting lodge and extremely much a stately home since the sixteenth century, Great Fosters is now a exclusive hotel. Set among 50 acres of terraces and park, the inn is a Grade One listed building blessed with the grandeur of sixteenth century England and attractive up-to-date facilities. Its past is evident in the mullioned windows, tall chimneys, fireplaces and brick finials, whilst the Saxon moat, crossed by a Japanese bridge, surrounds 3 sides of the formal park. All the apartments and bedrooms are individualy colored. The bedrooms in the Main House are enhanced with tapestries and antiques, while the bedrooms in The Cloisters are more up-to-date in fashion. The Coach House, recently renewed in 2008, proposes splendid accomodation with the most modern plasma screens, i-pod docking stations and imposing bathrooms. The Oak Room restaurant caters acclaimed up-to-date English food beneath vaulted oak beams, which lend a nice elegance to each meal.
