General Information

Luxury bandb Lake District. Recent House Farm is situated in the authentic lake region, tranquillity and beauty without the crowds. Recent House Farm is located in the nice Lorton Vale in the North West Corner of the Lake District National Park. The Property lies between the countrysides of Lorton and Buttermere, nine miles due west of Keswick and 6 miles south of Cockermouth on the B5289. The House dates back to 1650 when it was part of Lord Egremont's Cumberland Estate. The original name of the site is not known but records show it as New House Farm as early as 1832. Period has now discovered comprise oak beams and rafters, flagged floors and stone open fireplaces. The cottage and adjoining barn (where we cater tasty home made snacks and teas all year round in the splendour of an original cow byre, decorated with farming artefacts of a bygone era) are Listed Grade II. Outside there are 15 acres of open fields, forests, streams and ponds which clients may wander around. There are astonishing Lakeland vistas all around, specially of Swinside and Dodd glowing purple on a late summers evening, or that of Melbreak rising up at the end of the vale. After a long days stroll why not appreciate the relaxing Hot Tub in the park. Better quiet have a bottle of Champagne under the stars while there - a lot of do!


Transportation

Recent House Farm is located in the picturesque Lorton Vale in the North West Corner of the Lake District National Park. The Property lies between the countrysides of Lorton and Buttermere, nine miles due west of Keswick and 6 miles south of Cockermouth on the B5289. Exit Junction 40 on the M6 and head west on the A66. Bypass Keswick and turn left onto the B5292 at Braithwaite. Go over Whinlatter Pass to Lorton and combine the B5298 south to ScaleHill and Loweswater. We are two miles south of Lorton on the left hand side.
