General Information
If you are searching for a languish and welcoming home at the end of a long day strolling Hadrian’s Wall; want a rustic escape where you are able to take a deep breath and relax following a day out investigating this tranquil but interesting part of the world or are hiking between Scotland and England and need somewhere to rest for the night then the Abbey Bridge, is the B&B for you. The Abbey Bridge was constructed in 1832 as a social cottage called the Black Bull, although there had been a hostelry on the property of what was a necessary crossing of the River Irthing for at least a pair of centuries in good time. The structure is Grade II listed and made from the local sandstone under a slate roof. The suites are warm, well furnished and adjacent. The beds are easy and the nights so entirely you may find it difficult to receive up for lunch. The breakfasts are unhurried and we cater locally produced product where possible with lots of choice for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. A lot of of our dear guests are strolling the Hadrian’s Wall long distance footpath, which is under a mile from Abbey Bridge. We have gorgeous clothes and boot drying amenities whether the Cumbrian weather features been unfriendly and will invite you with a hot drink and slice of cake.
