The Auld Kirk is a four star hotel located in the center of gorgeous Royal Deeside this lovely historic former church provides a magnificent base for those desiring to tour the regions in and around the Cairngorms National Park. Located right in the centre of Royal Deeside, the Auld Kirk is a magnificent specimen of a Victorian Scottish Free Church building. Sensitively converted in 1986 to not big hotel, the Auld Kirk features built a respect for super food, cosy lodging and a sincere welcome that is the hallmark of Scottish cordiality. A program of renovation was commenced in year 2006 and the Auld Kirk was re-launched as a ‘Restaurant with Rooms’ to more accurately describe the emphasis positioned on the provision of elegant local food and the scale and high standard of lodging offered. At the Auld Kirk we take food seriously. We purpose wherever possible to give one of the best of fresh, local, seasonal make cooked and awarded with attention. All our nice bedrooms are on the ground floor and all have now been fulle furbished. We offer a variety of visitor facilities in every room including refreshment trays, iron and ironing boards, hairdryers, televisions, straight dial telephones with voicemail and, in the most of apartments, wi-fi (bring your own laptop). A big variety of activities and interests able to be found on our doorstep. Pretty strolls begin 100m from the Auld Kirk, varying from a gentle walk along the riversides Dee to a sparkling climb up Craigendarroch Hill, or via the Pannanich wood where deer, vermilion squirrels and the elusive and now rare Capercaillie able to be found. For those desiring to be a small more adventurous Balalter is encircled by unbelievable peaks such as Lochnagar, good woods and training estates including Balmoral and Glen Tanar and surely lots of water.
