The Cortijo (country house) overlooks towards the Mediterranean at an altitude of 1450m, opening up spectacular views of unspoiled natural rural area and on clean days even extending to the Rif hills of North Africa. Cortijo Prado Toro is an enchanting restful spot set amid fabulous village. Hidden courtyards and patios give sanctuaries of shade and verdure, while lonely terraced corners propose solitude in the sun. Weeping branches of mature willow trees form bowers of calmness, and the gentle murmur of a spring or fountain never seems far away. Only the muted clanging of distant goat bells is likely to disturb the silence of this tranquil mountain retreatThe architecture of the buildings, planned and reconstructed with the facilitate of Donald Gray (an eminence in classical Andalucian architecture), is in the conventional Alpujarran fashion with much attention taken on the detail.
