Palacio De San Benito Hotel Cazalla de la Sierra

General Information

San Benito was constructed as a hermitage by the order of Calatrava in the end of the fifteenth century. Located within the lobby of the Sevillian countryside of Cazalla de la Sierra, in its origin it catered as a hospital for pilgrims in their way to Santiago. After the earthquake of Lisbon, in the start of the sixteenth century, the tower-facade and the apse crumbles and is subsequently restored under the direction of Martin de Gainza and son, finishing with the existing triangular citadel, the oldest specimen in Andalusia. The front was planned by Hernan Ruiz II, in brick of Triana with a quality wonderful finish. Reconstruction business was finished in 1576. Manuel Morales de Jodar acquires the premises in 1997 jointly with Carlos Maranon, both initiating the restoration and existing construction of the actual building. The plenty of years it was abandoned, the distinct uses it was hallowed to after its demystification, made it a difficult and costly recuperation. Elements of a familiar castle, crumbled years back, supplied an assortment of materials used in the newer and ensuite construction, thus resulting in no difference between the recent and the primitive, of which the original elements of various epochs conform the heritage of a brand-new building, with the comfort and technology of the most high grade and the quality of handcrafted arts, of long ago. The atmosphere of this building resumes in comfort, beauty, heritage and technology.

Transportation

The Palace of San Benito is located in the picturesque village of Cazalla de la Sierra, within the Sierra Norte of Seville, only 75Km away from the capital of Andalusia. Cazalla is situated at 593 metres above the sea level and have an extension of 353.2km2. Its population is five, 263 inhabitants. Arriving from Seville by the regional road A- 432, we will enter immediately to the Paseo del Moro. Following a brief slope, the front on the West end of the Palace will appear in facade of us announcing to the traveller his arrival.
