Planned by the architect Nasoni and built in the mid 18th century, the Palacio do Freixo (Freixo Palace) is one of the majority outstanding examples of Portuguese civil architecture from the baroque period. The Pousada features protected the whole front of the castle buildings, which became a National Monument in 1910.
