Quinta da Alcaidaria Mor Ourem

General Information

Going via the cedar grove that leads to Quinta da Alcaidaria-Mor is exactly the 1st step to enter an universe full of heritage and custom: the home of the Alvaiazere family. In this seventeenth centuty manor, some pages of heritage have been written, from the Napoleonic Invasions to the Order of Malta. Even D. Nuno Alvares Pereira, in 1385, prayed in small chapel that is now part of the Quinta, asking for Saint Luzia's divine protection on his way to Aljubarrota battle where he would obtain a shining victory. It is a bucolic landscape of stillness and tranquillity that in the new years became the stage for Alexandra Lencastre and Rogerio Samora, during the shooting of the Portuguese film O Delfim,

Transportation

Leave the A1 motorway connecting Lisboa with Porto on the Fatima exit..Right after the toll gate, follow to Ourem, coming down the mountains by a highway which features some tight turns but compensates for the magnificent scenery. Cross Ourem in direction to Tomar. Drive on for approximately 2 kilometres till you get to the Seica intersection. At that intersection you'll find, on your left, a blue sign indicating the highway to the 3 grove that will lead you to the Quinta.
