Lithuania, or officially the Republic of Lithuania, is a country situated in the north of Europe. Located along the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea, it borders on Latvia in the north, Belarus in the south, Poland, and the Russia in the southwest. As for the tourism in Lithuania the number of foreign visitors increases each year. The major part of foreign visitors in Lithuania are from the United Kingdom, Estonia and Finland, Russia, Germany, Poland, Latvia, Belarus. Such resorts as Druskininkai and Bir.tonas experienced around 50 percent increase of occupiers in 2005; while th number of visitors in Neringa and Palanga increased also. Lithuanian hotels always experience an increase of occupiers as their service is on a high level. Almost a half of the foreign visitors stay in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, that has popularity among foreign visitors as well as among locals.
