Luna Baglioni Hotel Venice

General Information

This historic, aristocratic hotel dates from the 12th century, is the oldest hotel in Venice and it catered as a shelter for the Knights Templar during their stay to the Serenissima. In the 18th century the structure was decorated by the frescoes, the business of the students of the eminent artist Gianbattista Tiepolo, which adorn the outstanding Marco Polo salon. The new restyling brought the Luna its former amenity and further enhanced our hotel with recent apartments offering either breath-taking vistas over the St. Mark's waterfront and the San Giorgio island and fitted out with roomy verandah, perfect places for candle-lit dinners in summer time period. The stamp of glamour and sophistication is evident everywhere: relic furniture, objects d'art, marble bathrooms and stunning Murano crystal chandeliers that adorn the lounge and lovely corridors. All our apartments are equiped with phone, adjustable air conditioning and heating, satellite television, piped music, mini-bar, secure, windows with double pane glass. Bathrooms are enchased with Italian marbles and have superb bath facilities such as hairdryers, piped music, phone, make-up mirror, towel heaters, and bath tub with overhead shower. The warm and highly sumptuous Canova Restaurant (winner of the Fogher d'Oro and Gambero Rosso awards) is patterned to hold up to 80 visitors in a highly advanced and prestigious environment set off against the magnificent San Marco lagoon. The Chef suggests conventional dishes of the Veneto area and excellent Italian cuisine. A lavish smorgasbord is catered in the spectacular Marco Polo Salon whose walls are covered with 18th-century frescoes. The Caffe Baglioni facing a little canal and the Royal Gardens is the site to enjoy cocktails and spend prime relaxing moments. Gondolas and water taxis able to get to directly the guesthouse with its privately-owned landing stage.

Transportation

The Marco Polo International Airport is approximately seven km (4 miles) from the center of the city and the inn, and is joined to it by shuttle boat (30 min to San Marco). Taxis are also attainable on arrival. The Santa Lucia train station is approximately two kilometers (1 miles) from the guesthouse (20 mins by taxi).
