General Information

Embedded in a 14th Century palazzo in the center of the ancient part of Montepulciano, and with dramatic vistas over the Val d'Orcia and the Val di Chiana, the Locanda San Francesco proposes an prestigious destination for those who wish an vacation with a difference in one of the Tuscany's most magnetic hill-towns. The Locanda features just four bedrooms, every of them embellished personally and provided with delightful antiques from the family range. On one side the rooms provide glorious views of the Val d'Orcia, whilst on the other they look over the rooftops of the city towards the Val di Chiana, and as far as the Lakes Trasimeno, Montepulciano and Chiusi. All the rooms for guests have extensive double beds, prime parquet flooring and chic upholstery, whilst every room is equipped with its own character and fashion, and it's finished and fitted in its own way. Breakfast is catered in the extensive cross-vaulted hall on the 1st floor, which also retains a well-stocked library and a choice of films in DVD. There is also a free i-net point on the ground floor for guests' use. Customers can freely get to the Locanda by auto, where parking places are available on the occasion of a demand. The wine -bar and bistrot E lucevan le stelle is located on the first floor. Several little seating districts are distributed around the long brass- topped brasserie creating an ambience which is both intimate and open, even cosmopolitan.

By auto: From the north: Autostrada del Sole A1 toll highway, Valdichiana-Bettolle exit, follow signs for Montepulciano passing through Torrita di Siena (approx. 20 km). Once in Montepulciano follow signs for Parking n. 8 and then Duomo-Piazza Grande along Via Ricci to Piazza San Francesco. From the south: Autostrada del Sole A1 toll highway, Chiusi - Chianciano Terme exit, follow signs for Chianciano and Montepulciano (approx. 20 km). Once in Montepulciano follow signs for Parking n. 8, and then Duomo-Piazza Grande along Via Ricci to Piazza San Francesco. by plane: From Pisa or Rome airports follow signs for Florence and autostrada A1 toll highway. By train:Rome-Florence line, Chiusi station, then coach facilities to Montepulciano.
