Completed in 2008, this former 15th century castle features been converted into a magnificent flourishing hotel after a long restoration period lasting five years. The castle once belonged to Conti Gattini, of a notable family from Matera. Before the eighteenth century, the castle was also a convent; in fact, one of the junior rooms features a Renaissance portal that joined the castle with a pontiff's court. Cream is a dominant color in the guesthouse because it's the color of the chalky stone prevailing in Matera's scenery, and almost all houses in the region were built with this type of stone.
