Nestled on the north western beach of the island on the waters of the Mirabello Gulf, the sophisticated resort of Agios Nikoloas enjoys a peerless range of park amusements from its fascinating lake with open-air cinema to its big range of boutiques, tavernas, restaurants and galleries and its astonishing marina. Local municipal legend features it that Voulismeni Lake is bottomless and that the goddess Athena once bathed in its waters, but tales aside, the lakeside waterfront is in reality the vivid center of the city. In the summer, there are outdoor cinema performances by its shores and al fresco restaurants abound.
