Operated by Kees and Lisa, owner builders of the premises, they live in the historic homestead (1880C) situated within the two acres of Bungunyah's terraces. The homestead of Bungunyah was originally used as a horse stud, and features a heritage of 3 proprietors including the contemporary proprietors the Kos's, who reconstructed the homestead to its former splendour in 1980. Bungunyah (Lost Shelter') was named by the 1st colonial settlers in honour of the local indigenous persons. Excellent wine, dining, brilliant hills and first-rate shoppingBungunyah is at the gateway to the esteemed Yarra Valley Wine District and at the foothills to the brilliant Dandenong Ranges. Stay one of the plenty of plantations of grapevines such as Chandon Domain and enjoy some elegant offerings plus a great glass of their widely-known sparkling wine. Alternatively appreciate an early morning balloon flight over the Yarra Valley or stay Sherbrooke Forest where you are able to stroll among the tall eucalypt and tree ferns. There are plenty of shopping complexes in the region to indulge in or walk among the abundant art and craft shops to be found on Mt Dandenong. Healesville fauna garden is a firstrate site to receive up close and personal with some of Australia's wildlife or Puffing Billy is a roomy hit with the children (and adults) to enjoy a steam train ride through some of Australia's pleasant bush.
