Hotel Babel: a brand-new hotel with History. An original XIX century cottage, 1st home to a necessary politician in the beginnings of the Argentinean History. Later, in the XX century, the cottage was turned into a conventillo, popular housing for immigrant families just arrived from Spain and Italy. Hotel Babel features a deep connection with the ancient roots of Buenos Aires. This two-storey manor house, architecturally preserved by the government, was saved from abandonment and reconstructed into a warm, intimate and advanced hotel. Past and present-day trends see a harmonious way together, due to the choice of the materials used in the refurbishing. Dark Paraiso forest covering ceiling and walls, brought from the northern province of Misiones, the same forest used 200 years ago. Steel and glass adds to a latest, present-day feel. Original doors and windows fully renovated. Everything provides a permanent dialogue between the ancient and the recent.
