General Information

The city of North Stonington in southeast Connecticut on the Rhode Island border covers 56. three piazza miles and is home to about 4540 dwellers. Named in 1724 for the stony character of the hilly village, North Stonington was incorporated in 1807. Farms, mills, tanneries, iron works, winery and house weaving contributed to a prosperous and celebrated mercantile heart in the 1800s. Changing times have left dairy farming the major industry. North Stonington consists of the settlements of Clarks Falls, Laurel Glen, and Pendleton Hill.
